Währungsreform in Nordkorea

Zwei Stellen der nordkoreanischen Währung Won sollen gestrichen werden, berichten südkoreanische Nachrichtenagenturen. Möglicherweise soll mit dem Schritt zum Einem der Schwarzmarkt eingeschränkt werden und zum Anderen die Inflation bekämpft werden. Als Nebeneffekt wird das Vermögen der Nordkoreaner - sollten sie welches besitzen - größtenteils um den Faktor 100 verkleinert. Jeder "Haushalt" darf lediglich in den kommenden 5 Tagen und bis zu einer gewissen Grenze Geld tauschen. Wo genau die Grenze liegt ist noch unklar, angeblich liegt sie zwischen 100.000 und 150.000 Won, was dem Wert von einem halben Kilo Reis entspricht:

A source in North Hamkyung Province told The Daily NK, “This morning, there was a decree to people’s units. When the news spread in the jangmadang, people panicked.” Daily NK

The source was also surprised at the news, “We’ve heard that before, but didn’t imagine that they would carry it out in such a rapid and aggressive way.”
He was not able to hide his agitation, pointing out that, at the time, “With 100,000 won, we can now buy just half a kilogram of rice. Property we have sweated blood for has turned to nothing.”
The source also told The Daily NK that one couple in their 60s had committed suicide following the news of the currency exchange, and that PSA officials are apparently extremely tense and concerned about the situation expanding into civil unrest. Daily NK

Aber die UNO wird sich um die groben Menschenrechtsverletzungen in Nordkorea wohl kaum noch weiter bemühen. Da beschäftigt man sich lieber mit dem Minarettenverbot in der Schweiz...
