Taqwacore

"Vote Hezbollah (the band's name is intended as a joke) is one of five Muslim punk bands that recently wrapped up a ten-date tour that took them from Boston to Chicago during August and September."

Er wird von der muslimischen Gemeinde für Befürwortung von Frauen geleiteten Gebeten kritisiert (Zitat von Muhammad Knight: "If the Prophet wouldn’t have liked it [dass Frauen Gebete leiten dürfen], then in 2005 the Prophet is wrong, shit on him. La ilaha illa Allah.").
"Local punks mix with curious young Muslims -- including a few girls wearing head scarves -- as Kominas frontman Shahjehan Khan launches into the opening lines of "Sharia Law in the U.S.A.": "I am an Islamist!/And I am an anti-Christ!" Nearby, mohawked bassist Basim Usmani -- whose T-shirt reads frisk me i'm muslim -- slaps out the song's bass line while viciously slam-dancing with a dude in a woman's burqa."

Auch reinste Satire?

Die Lyrics sind kontrovers, aber persönlich. So berichtet einer der Musiker:
In "Par Desi," Usmani, who spent part of his childhood in Pakistan, describes getting beaten up by punk skinheads in America: "In Lahore it's raining water/In Boston it rains boots."

"But when the female group Secret Trial Five took the stage, organizers had the police shut down the show, because it is forbidden for Muslim women to sing in public."

Hier noch die Lyrics von Sharia Law in the USA by The Kominas:
I am an Islamist,
I am an Antichrist
Most squares can't make Most Wanted lists
but my my how I stay in style

Cops chased me outta my mother's womb
my crib was in state pen before age two and
the feds had bugged my red toy phone
so I devised a plan for heads to roll,

Sharia Law, in the USA

Sharia Law or we've had to pay
for what the white man can take with two free hands
imagine our debts, cut in half
our wives multiplied by the numbah four
why the president's daughters couldn't ask for more
one can lick my afghan's clit
wife three's ready to help as I keep screaming
"Penetrate me with a strap-on dick"
while a brotha from New Orleans does you Anally.

Sharia Law in the USA

Gut eh, kein Kommentar...
